Wallace stepped in the studio with simple sportswear and looked like an ordinary person. When discussing about acting, his genuine attitude could make you feel of his passion about his acting job. Yet when facing with something else, he remained so cool about it. He, Wallace Huo, is a man between passion and calm.

Willing to share with young artists
With his years of acting experience, Wallace is a predecessor deserving respects from new joiners. Occasionally new artists would consult him on the sets “Sometimes they would ask me, but not too often as I’m still young, haha. Of course for people a lot younger I would share with them by feeling so as to bring them to the mood of acting. Sometimes I shared with them about what I had encountered in life, such as you are already pretty good as compared to what I did before. Just share some experiences”.

Acting is about sharing life experience
Wallace had played the roles of TV director, detective, spy, doctor, etc. When I asked him what role did he find most touching, he said: “Honestly there aren’t too many. If I need to say what roles do I have in common there aren’t too many either. It’s just a feeling of sharing my life experience in the roles I played. But…I don’t know how to describe it. This one is too difficult.”

About his skin care
Easy collected many questions from the internet before the interview. One of the questions asked: “Wallace, your skin is so good, how do you care about it, any secret?” Wallace laughed when he heard the question. “This person must be a new Huami because I didn’t maintain my skin at all. A few years back my mother told me that I should maintain myself as I seemed a lot older now. I was touched.”

Inner thoughts
E: Being an actor is a tough job. You must have gone through many ups and downs. What matters do you still insist on?
W: I am very firm about using my characters or projects to speak for me. This is something that hasn’t been changed. This has drawn many doubtful eyes along the way. They thought I’m too paranoid and not following the trends. But I still insist on my own way.

E: What other areas do you find interesting?
W: Up to now still the show biz. But maybe more related to behind the scenes stuff. I haven’t involved much in other industries and so have very little knowledge about them.

E: You are concentrated when acting. What other interests do you have that you put much of your energy into them?
W: None. I think I’m more shinning when acting on the sets. I’m a lazy person in real life. Maybe these two years I had been very busy acting and didn’t have time for other interests. For example, I like sports, like basketball, but didn’t have much time for them. Acting is my interest now.

E: You’re a careful person when at work, how about your love life?
W: Yes, how should I say? I need a long-term observation for someone to become my girlfriend. I’m not the type falling in love at first sight. I need to understand this person and need time to determine whether she is suitable. But the problem is when I start to approach her she’s long gone already.”

E: 2011 is almost over. How do you feel about your work this year? What are your expectations for 2012?
W: This year is really a busy year. All my emotions are in the dramas. I guess it’s sufficient for me to have people seeing my work. It’s still worth it. Next year other than filming I want to leave more personal times to myself. I need to relax.

Fan questions:
Q: Your onscreen characters are quite far away from ordinary people close to us, how do you find your way to experience those characters?
W: Of course I can’t get close to the lives of my characters, but I can use my interpretations. For instance, I got some information when I watched some martial arts films of how the heroes presented their charismas in the shows. I then collected them for my own use. In addition, costumes are also important. Sometimes I got the inspirations from the costumes I wore.

Q: Hua ge, your birthday is drawing near. Could you reveal what’s your birthday wish?
W: I want to have a good new year holiday. I haven’t had a new year holiday for a long time.

Others:
Wallace described his role of Meng Tian Chu in Xing Ming Shi Ye is someone who is outgoing and joyful. He found this role could relax him from his earlier serious roles. He said he’s satisfied with his Caribbean style costumes. He had a good time with Nicky Wu and they joked off the screen.

On the sets Wallace normally doesn’t play video games or go for a nap as he’s afraid he can’t get up for the sets and lose feeling about his characters. Normally he would communicate with the directors before the takes. Some directors may or may not take suggestions from him but the latter seldom happened. He said the director for Xing Ming Shi Ye is young and they had good communications.

When asked whether he would write scripts in the future he said it’s too difficult to put together a story, although he may suggest some changes to the scripts on the sets. He said he enjoys comedy more. He will focus more on dramas in the near future. As for movies it will depend on how the scripts and characters would come along. Movies are not priority at the moments.
